What makes our centre great?

Developed with ages and stages in mind

Every child is unique and develops at their own pace. So, our childcare centre is equipped with resources that cater to the developmental needs of different age groups. From the right-sized tables and chairs to separate sleeping areas for infants, toddlers, and older children, to a wide range of play and learning equipment, our facilities are designed to provide a comfortable and supportive environment for every child.

Qualified teachers

One of our key strengths is our team of highly qualified educators. Our staff members hold relevant New Zealand early childhood education (ECE) qualifications and are up-to-date with essential training, including first aid and child protection certifications. We maintain a higher teacher-to-child ratio than required by the Ministry of Education. This allows us to provide more individual attention and ensures that your child is always in a safe and supervised environment.

Inclusive Practice

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive early childhood centre. For families with children who have additional educational needs, we have a dedicated teacher who visits our Te Awamutu centre as needed, ensuring that every child receives the support they deserve.

Quality meals

Healthy eating is a cornerstone of good development, and we take this seriously. All meals are prepared on-site at our centre, ensuring that your child receives nutritious and balanced meals and snacks every day. We work closely with parents to meet any specific dietary requirements.

Meet our Teachers

Rebecca Fitzell

Hi, I'm Rebecca, and I'm part of the team at Little Rosebud's.

I began my career in childcare by looking after children in my own home, after I'd had my own daughter and found myself drawn to nurturing and guiding children. I've now be in early childhood education for 15 years and my passion grows each year.

I hold a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) from New Zealand Tertiary College, which provided me with a solid foundation in child development theories, educational practices, and classroom management techniques. Over the years, I have continued to expand my knowledge by attending workshops and obtaining certifications in areas such as Safeguarding and Protection for the ECE Sector, Achieving Leadership Excellence in Early Childhood Education and gaining a First Aid Certificate.

My philosophy is based on creating a child-focused environment where every child’s unique strengths, interests, and needs are nurtured. I believe children learn best when they are actively engaged and encouraged to explore the world around them at their own pace. I believe that emotional and social skills are important in early childhood.

I have lots of wonderful memories from my teaching at Little Rosebud's. One of my favourites was our initiative to give back to our families. I noticed that some were facing financial challenges, so we established a 'Sharing Shed,' where families can donate and pick up essential items such as clothing, toys, food, and household goods. This provides a valuable resource for families in need and encourages a sense of community and mutual support.

Children teach me as much as I teach them. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that the support and guidance I provide help to shape the foundation of a child’s future. Being able to make a positive impact on their learning and personal development is a privilege.
